Don't let your Dog be a Nuisance

Barking dogs are often a nuisance and can cause problems for both owners and neighbors. To correct excessive barking, try training them yourself to change this pattern of behavior. Attempt to stop the barking using a stern, commanding voice. Yelling is not helpful it often excites the dog and creates a bigger problem, reward good behavior with praise or treats. If your dog is barking at people or cars attempt to obstruct its view by placing the dog in a different part of the yard or by getting a privacy fence. Sometimes a dog barks because they’re scared or anxious because you just left (separation anxiety). At other times, the dog may be bored or may bark because he hears other dogs barking.
